1. Bucca Hotel Campground,

The Bucca Hotel is a classic country pub in a beautiful riverfront location in Bucca, around 20 minutes outside Bundaberg in Queensland. The pub owns and manages the adjacent campground, where caravaners can set up for a small overnight fee and make use of the hot showers and toilets, plus, of course, the wonderful counter meals and cold beer of the pub. They even have live music on the weekend! And you simply must try their 'Bucca Sauce'; homemade Worcestershire sauce sold in repurposed Bundaberg Rum bottles.

2. Bluff Creek Campground 
Kenilworth, Qld

Bluff Creek is a large campground set on private property in beautiful surrounds just outside Kenilworth, in Queensland’s verdant Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Set on 100 acres of rolling grounds fronting both the beautiful Mary River and a permanent creek, each campsite is located for maximum privacy and space. The lush grassy sites each have a fire pit and direct creek access or views across the valley. The sites are a short walk or drive to the property's Mary River access, which is perfect for fishing, swimming, canoeing or just relaxing. There are portable toilets for use, but mostly vans will need to be self-sufficient.

3. Gleneden Family Farm 
Maryvale, Qld

A working organic farm, Gleneden is a unique farmstay experience for self-sufficient campers and caravanners. You can join a farm tour to get up close and personal with the vast range of animals that call Gleneden home. The farm utilises interspecies regenerative farming techniques, in which animals are rotated strategically around paddocks to mimic nature. Each species performs a different function in regenerating the soil, so this is considered a very environmentally friendly way to farm livestock. Visitors can stock up on meat from the farm shop before settling in at camp. Suitable for off-road vans only.

4. Aloomba Lavender Farm 
Liston, Qld

When it comes to unique places to set up your caravan, amongst fragrant flowers at a working lavender farm surely takes the cake. Aloomba Lavender Farm is located 15 minutes from the town of Stanthorpe, in Queensland’s Granite Belt region. The camping areas are right alongside the beautiful rows of lavender, and there are a few sites with access to power. There are hot showers and toilets here, as well as a home-style café serving up freshly-made lavender scones. The campsite has a large communal firepit and festoon lights for ambient evenings at camp.

5. Dandabah Campground 
Bunya Mountains, Qld

Located high in the magical Bunya Mountains National Park, around 100km north of Toowoomba, Dandabah Campground is a grassy, open campground with unpowered sites but full facilities including free hot showers. Fringed by rainforest home to the region’s namesake bunya pines, this campground is peaceful and pretty with easy access to beautiful rainforest walks. It’s located in the Bunya Mountains village, which has two cafes, a restaurant and a general store, all within walking distance. It’s also home to many very cute red-necked wallabies, which happily graze among campers.
