Engel MT-V Series

The Engel brand has been making fridges for caravanners since 1962 and the MT-V Series is its latest range. The MT-V Series replaces the MT series and boasts new colours and branding, corner protectors, a larger lockable door latch for ease of access, a stronger basket and most importantly a five-year warranty. The MT-V Series are still powered by the brand’s robust and efficient Sawafuji Swing Motor and is available in several sizes from 32- to 75-litres.

Sitting at just 30cm off the ground, the Low Chair from Snow Peak may not be creatively named, but it sure is comfy. Sitting low enables you to stretch out your legs for maximum relaxation – ideal for languid summer afternoons at camp, or a spot of stargazing. Made from quality canvas, an aluminium frame and bamboo armrests, Snow Peak says the Low Chair is top quality. We reckon this one would be great wrapped up under the Christmas tree for the discerning caravanner.

Take the guess work out of assessing how much gas is left in the cylinder with the newly released SmartSense gas bottle monitor and app, from BMPRO. The water- and dust-resistant unit affixes to the bottom of any gas cylinder via strong magnets that, according to the manufacturer, resist vibrations. The unit connects to the SmartSense app via Bluetooth, which can monitor multiple gas cylinders with precision and alert you when you’re low on gas. No more half-cooked snags!

Claimed by Yeti as “the most overengineered camp mug out there”, the Rambler 14oz (400ml) Mug is tough, extremely well insulated and looks great. The mug features a double-wall, vacuum-insulated body that protects hands and, most importantly, keeps your coffee hot. It has a wide mouth so is also ideal to eat from, keeping your dinner warm or your ice-cream cold. These days it’s frowned upon to walk out of a café with a disposable takeaway coffee cup, so an insulated and robust ‘keep cup’ like this is the way to go.

Black Diamond has released its Storm 375 Headlamp which has an IPX67 rating meaning it’s both water and dustproof. As the name suggests, it has a maximum output of 375 lumens, and Black Diamond claims it can reach out to 100m and has a run time of up to five hours on full power. There are two other power modes, Low, which has an output of eight lumens and can allegedly reach out to nine metres with a 150-hour runtime, and Medium, with an output of 160 lumens, a reach-distance of 45m and a runtime of 10 hours. The Storm 375 also has proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, as well as red, green and blue coloured lights to preserve your night vision, and also a lock mode to stop it from turned on accidentally. The Black Diamond Storm 375 headlamp also has brightness memory allowing it to remain at the chosen brightness even when the headlamp is switched off and back on.

Lowering tyre pressures when driving off-road is important but it can be a pain on your knees and time-consuming. Clearview claims its Tyre Spider simplifies both the inflation and deflation process. The Tyre Spider is essentially just a storage tank with four valves and a connection point for an air compressor. But therein lies the beauty; with an air compressor connector it can inflate four tyres at once, borrow air to inflate a single tyre from the other three if you don’t have an air compressor, deflate up to four tyres simultaneously and also equalise the pressure across multiple tyres. The Tyre Spider has an easy to read digital pressure gauge and comes with two five-metre hoses and two eight-metre hoses.
