There are heaps of people out there that have drones, using them privately, but maybe taking a few snaps or some video footage, then selling them or trading them for a caravan site. Maybe even using them in a sponsored blog or magazine article.
For business reasons, we’ve owned lots of different cameras, but we don’t own a drone, we’ve left that to qualified and experienced operators.
They do the ground (and air) work, get the permissions, have the insurance, they’re professionals in their field.
Come on old fella, get with the programme, isn’t it time!
DRONES – PRIVATE OR COMMERCIAL?
Are you flying for commercial gain? Are you insured properly? Ever heard of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate?

Buying one is the easy part, although there are quite a few to choose from. Little ones that look great online, but would probably snap on landing, or blow away in a big gust of wind, low on price and probably lower on video resolution.
DJI seem to be the most popular and largest manufacturer, from bigger industrial units, to smaller and fairly stable drones; the Mavic is fairly popular.
But there are other considerations, there are a few rules and regulations.

Let’s think about where I can fly, do I need a licence? Does our current public liability insurance cover me? What restrictions are in place?
