Ezytrail launches new ‘Ceduna’ off-road caravan

Ezytrail has launched its first hardtop off-road caravan range, the Ceduna. The RV Daily team recently had the opportunity to get a quick glimpse at the first two models in the range, the Ceduna 13 and Ceduna 15, and so far we like what we see.

The Ceduna fits into the compact off-road category, with enough comforts to make caravanning a pleasure but an attitude of simplicity that keeps you connected to the great outdoors. For example, both the 13 and 15 have external slide-out kitchens rather than internal kitchen facilities, although you can option an internal fridge. Yet despite their compact dimensions – you guessed it, 13- and 15-feet respectively – they both manage to squeeze in relatively roomy onboard ensuites complete with shower, toilet, basin and, in the case of the 13, a large storage alcove where toiletries, towels and other items can be kept at camp.

Mother of two, Mrs Gray (53) explained it took three or four days for Lotus to contact them once the news had broken. “They could hear how distraught we were and what we were going through. We had been told so many lies, right up to the end when we were told our van was going to be delivered in two weeks – yet we found out it hadn’t even been started because no money had been paid to Lotus Caravans!” Mrs Gray said.

“We got a phone call from Dave to tell us they, Lotus, were going to honour the contract. I was gobsmacked; I was speechless. I didn’t know what was going on because we’d been to hell and back. I remember there must have been several people in the room when George said, ‘let me get on the phone, let me tell her’. He came on the phone and told me, and I just burst into tears.”

The 13 offers more storage in general, with an internal bench space across the front of the van with above-bench cabinets and under-bench drawers. The 15 swaps that out for a pair of bunk beds, making it the more family-friendly option of the two.

Both vans have overhead storage compartments throughout, enormous king-sized beds and oversized windows that promise to frame a view and catch a breeze. There’s ambient lighting, a TV/DVD player, stereo and, as an option, a reverse-cycle Dometic air conditioner.

The Ceduna sits on solid foundations, featuring Ezytrail’s new-generation ‘F5’ chassis and drawbar, both of which are engineer-certified, ADR-compliant for off-road use, with a lifetime off-road warranty to back it up – an Australian caravan industry first.

We weren’t able to spend much time with the new Ceduna models beyond curating these first impressions, but will shortly be taking them away for several weeks shooting for our exciting new TV program, Foodie Trails which will be airing later in the year.
